Dahlgren's neuron

one of a series of nerve cells which are neurosecretory and located in the caudal neurosecretory system. The cells may be neurosecretory giant-cells, two or three times as large as ordinary neurons, and may exceed 100 microns in diameter. They have a nucleus which is polymorphic. Very small fishes may have Dahlgren\'s cells which are very small and not histologically distinguishable
